Hi! My name is Rachel, the owner of Ancient Lakes Bath Co. I am on a mission to rid my house of as many chemicals as possible, starting with the bathroom.
I didn’t mean to go chemical free when I first started creating bath products for myself and my family. But as I started researching how to make my own products, I was shocked with the number of chemicals that we use on a daily basis.
At the same time, I started on a journey to heal my body of the various issues that I have had over the years. Knowing that chemicals can contribute to poor health, I decided that it was time to remove as many as I could. While removing 100% of the chemicals out of my house is going to take a while, I am excited about the chemicals I have been able to get rid of.
As I make and test new products, know that I won’t sell you any products that do not have my 100% satisfaction. You can also rest assure that if a chemical is present, it is because it is absolutely necessary, has a very specific reason and is as natural as I can find.
What can make a chemical necessary? In some products, a preservative is needed to keep the product from growing mold and making the user sick. In some soaps, an acid is needed to make the soap harder or to reduce soap scum. Bath bombs require the reaction between citric acid and baking soda for them to fizz.
I do not take the use of chemicals lightly. Each time I use them, I wrestle with whether they are necessary or not. If you have any questions about the chemicals in our products, or any of our ingredients, send us a message via the contact for on our website or leave it in the comments.
